Mamanuca Islands. 30 kilometers northeast of Nadi International Airport
in the Mamanuca group of islands. How to reach the property: Motor Launch - from Port Denarau (1 hour normal seas). Helicopter – departing from 2 locations, the Nadi Airport or the Denarau Helipad (5 minute walk from the Sheraton properties). Seaplane – Wailoaloa Beach Jetty (20 minutes). Hotel Description: The 225 acre island of Vomo rises from surrounding white sandy beaches and live coral reefs to an elevation of 500 feet. Vomo enjoys a rich place in Fijian history as the traditional “retreat” for the high chiefs of Western Fiji. Today, Vomo is the location of Vomo Island Resort with its eighty acres of manicured grounds, undulating enough for golf at one end, while rising to a high plateau with plunging cliffs at the other. Coral reefs begin just offshore – reefs so spectacular and pristine as to be reason enough for the visit.
The Rocks, one of the Vomo Island Resort restaurants, is perched high on a promontory overlooking Vomo Lai Lai on the western point, directly in line with the last rays of the day. A spectacular sunset setting! And speaking of Vomo Lai Lai, the resort calls this “Honeymoon Island”. They will provide complimentary boat transfers to this private island with a surcharge for catering meal and beverages. You are given a walkie-talkie and left to your solitude for a fabulously romantic time. The resort only caters for one couple at any one given time on the island. Families can go with their children for a unique family picnic. This is truly your private island!
