How
to reach the property: From
Nadi International Airport it is just over an hour flight to the airport
on the island of Taveuni. Upon arrival you will be met and provided with
a ground transfer to the boat launch area. From here you will take a short
20 minute boat ride to the resort.
Hotel Description: Qamea is an incredibly
beautiful island of lush green hills and totally unspoiled white sandy
beaches. The reefs between Qamea and Taveuni have been rated world class.
Qamea Beach Resort is a small, intimate facility with only 12 oceanfront
bures. It's located on 43 acres of lavishly landscaped gardens and along
an expansive beach for the exclusive use of its guests. A dramatic 50
ft. high chief-style bure serves as the bar and main dining room. Each
evening, the bar becomes the social center of the resort and Fijians entertain
with local songs accompanied by ukuleles and guitars. Arrange for "Honeymoon
Beach" to be just yours for a day. The resorts friendly Fijian staff is
always ready to take guests fishing, crabbing, hiking or even home to

built in traditional Fijian style with soaring 20 foot ceiling, thatched
roofs and hand polished local mahogany hardwood floors. All bures are
positioned for maximum seclusion to ensure that while you are enjoying
the magical views of the beach and lagoon from your covered deck, your
privacy is not compromised.
All
are spacious with over 650 square feet, split air conditioning, mini bar,
special herbal teas and French Press coffee making facilities, ceiling,
four poster bed dressed with luxurious Egyptian cotton linens, and a separate
living area. Antique Fijian art, collected by the owners from neighboring
village and islands, provide an exquisite finishing touch. All bures have
large covered decks with comfortable outdoor furniture and a hammock.

Honeymoon Villa - this 1200 square foot villa is a stunning
split-level built in the traditional Fijian style with high woven bamboo
ceilings and polished mahogany hardwood floors. The bedroom with its romantic
four poster canopy bed is on the upper level and two steps take you down
to an expansive lounge area. Both rooms face the beach and have access
to the large covered deck. The villa is cooled by overhead fans and split
air conditioning. The luxurious oversize bathroom has an indoor shower
and opens to a private outdoor river stone courtyard fitted with both
outdoor shower and Jacuzzi spa bath. The Honeymoon Villa is set back from
the other bures of the resort to enhance privacy, yet still commands a
full ocean view.

Honeymoon Bures - like the Honeymoon Villa, Honeymoon Bures
are designed specifically for discerning guests seeking the ultimate in
romance. While somewhat smaller than the Honeymoon Villa at 800 square
feet, the Honeymoon Bures do command a more expansive view of Qamea's
lagoon and white sand beach. The Honeymoon Bures have a romantic canopied
four poster bed and a bathroom of over 300 square feet with glass walls
that slide into pockets to open onto a private outdoor tropical planted
courtyard with an enticing natural stone headed Jacuzzi. Just one of the
unique features of the Honeymoon Bure is a private covered and curtained
day bed facing the beach.

Premium Villas - situated at the far end of the white sand
beach offers maximum privacy and selection along with the highest level
of luxury for the discerning traveler. The Premium Villas are very spacious
and have a wonderful open air feel. The 1600 square foot villas have been
designed and built in contemporary Fijian style, with soaring ceilings
and thatched roofs along with native hardwood floors. The split level
floor plan has a large open bedroom and living area, with imported furnishing,
the finest in linens, and an array of Fijian art commissioned specifically
by Qamea Resort & Spa.
The
Premium Villas are fully air conditioned and have a CD player sound system,
an iPod docking station and telephone. One of the highlights of the villas
is their large covered decks that extend to meet the beach. Relax and
enjoy the expansive views of Qamea's crystal clear lagoon and delight
in the spectacular sunsets.
Each
villa also boasts a private plunge swimming pool. The bathrooms feature
imported fixtures, twin basins and an indoor shower. A separate door leads
to the private river stone courtyard with open-air shower and has access

is one main restaurant located in the "Bure Kalou". At night dinner is
announced by the beat of the "lali" and you follow the amber-lit trail
of the torches to reach the dining area. Here, specialties include world-class

selection of the world's finest wines.

Oceanside
Spa Bure - offering an extensive menu of Fijian body therapies
and Guinot French facial therapies that relax, rejuvenate, revitalize
and renew. Guinot Institute, Paris, combines specialized facial techniques
and ingredients carefully selected by expert international beauticians.
With the backdrop of the white sand beach, the lapping of the lagoon,
and cooling sea breezes, a spa experience here will lull you into a well
deserved sense of well-being and relaxation.
Activities - Complementary: Croquet,
Reef Walking, Snorkeling including the gear, Sail Boards, Hobie Cats,
Kayaks, and Outrigger Canoes. Wind sports are excellent at the resort
because of its proximity to the breezes of the south coast trades. The
snorkeling reef has been nominated by "Rodell's Scuba Diving Magazine"
as one of the "World's Ten Best Snorkeling Reefs".
Activities with cost: Spa treatments,
Scuba diving. The diving is excellent with more then 20 dive sites for
novices to experts and all are just a short boat ride from the resort.
The resort also offers scuba courses from beginners to dive master level

1. "THE ROCK"
Vertical wall from surface dropping to over 100ft. Sea grapes, some soft
corals a but more had corals, large schools of small tropicals, white
tip sharks and turtles. Currents can be fast during full and new moons.
Depth: 40-75ft
2. "THE FANS" Large gorgonian sea
fans, soft corals and anemone fish galore. Large schools of fusiliers
when dived during faster currents. Mantas have been seen here. Depth
25-75ft
3. "THE CAVES" Large cavern at 25ft
and a swim through "tunnel" in the reef at 20ft at opposite ends of this
dive. Many soft corals, healthy hard corals. Usually excellent visibility
due to distance from land. About 20 minutes from Resort. Mild currents.
Depth 20-65ft
4. "BROKEN REEF"
usually good visibility. Large schools of small tropicals, healthy
hard corals, clams, regular sighting of white tip reef sharks, Currents
usually mild. Depth 40-70ft
5. "CHIEF'S GARDEN"
Also in the same reef system as "The Caves", "Broken Reef" and
"The Playground". Good visibility, healthy hard coral reef. Occasional
white tips and turtles. Gentle drift. Depth 40-80ft
6. "THE PLAYGROUND" Similar to "Chief's
Garden" but more of a spur and groove formation. Patch of garden eels.
Usually good visibility. Current mild. Depth
40-80ft
7. "CORAL GARDENS"
Healthy hard coral reef system with some soft corals, usually with
superb visibility. Large tricadna clams as well as large schools of fusiliers.
Enormous 12ft brain coral at end of dive on incoming tide. Depth
35-75ft
NO CURRENT
8.
"QAMEA SHORE" Good check-out dive and
night dive. Resident lionfish occupy two separate coral heads. Anemones
with anemone fish and live egg cowries. Moray and white tip. Excellent
snorkeling. to the right out from the boating area. At high slack tide,
can snorkel across top of the reef at 3-4feet then out to the edge of
the reef which slopes down to 50 feet. Lot of fish activity between 4-5:30pm.
Depth 10-50ft
INCOMING TIDE
9. "MARAIA'S COVE" Mild to moderate
current depending on time of month. One wall is thick with concentrations
of soft corals, large patch of garden eels, frequent sightings of resident
6ft white tip shark and swirling schools of striped mackerels. Depth
35-65ft
10. "SWIRLING COCONUT" Vara Niu is
the Fijian name. Exciting and fish active drift. Descent among of a school
of chevron barracudas, lush soft corals, numerous large schools of tropicals.
White tips common. Mid-way, the dive swirls around two large pinnacles
with concentrations of purple soft corals and orange anthias. Depth
40-75ft
11. "LONG BEACH POINT" Easy drift
until the turn around point. Current gradually increases and can be swift.
Soft corals, feather star crinoids clinging to sea fans. Depth
40-75ft
12. "BARRACUDA PINNACLE" Offshore
reef, visibility good. Very fish active dive on a healthy reef that includes
a steep vertical wall. Schooling barracudas fairly common with large schools
of tropicals and jacks. Also large Spanish mackerels. Depth
40-90ft
OUTGOING TIDE
13. "PURPLE WALL" Actually three separate
vertical walls with thick concentrations of purple soft corals. Current
can be fast, however this creates great fish activity. Typical to see
more banded sea snakes that other sites. Depth
45-65ft
14. "QAMEA FREEWAY" Starts near the
Resort with a sloping wall. Then a right turn and a racing drift over
a sandy patch with hard coral bommies. Large schools of tropicals and
sightings of white tip sharks are common. Dive ends with a gentle drift
up the reef. Depth 45-80ft
15. "SUCU" (Suthu) A large pinnacle
begins at 30ft. Large schools of tropicals. Currents can be strong and
change as divers circle the pinnacle. This dive can be breathtaking with
corals so thick and lush it looks like a multi-colored carpet and one
spot where you can count 24-26 anenomes swaying in the current. Depth
30-70ft
16. "LOST REEF" Another large pinnacle
near Sucu. Top of the reef is also 30ft but slopes down to over 100ft.
Large schools of fusiliers and jacks. Usually seen is a school of chevron
barracuda. Large sea fans and soft coral abound. Currents similar to those
at Sucu. Large colonies of blue tipped anemones with anemone fish on the
lee side of the pinnacle. Depth 30-90ft
17. "SOUTH PASSAGE" Divers are dropped
off at the outer edge of the fringing reef, the south side of Qamea. A
short swim underwater across a sand patch to a parallel reef. Sea grapes
abound, white tips are common and large schools of bumphead parrot fish
at times. Depth 45-80ft
18. "BEN'S PLAYGROND" Large schools
of fusiliers, unicorn fish, barracuda, clown trigger fish, occasional
sharks, soft corals and sea fans. Current can be strong unless taken at
high slack tide. Depth 30-130ft
19. "NURSERY PINNACLE" The dive
goes twice around this pinnacle. Hard corals at the top of this dive,
soft corals below. Schools of bronze whalers and white tips. Current can
be strong at times. Depth 25-120ft
20. "BARRIER REEF PINNACLE" Hard corals
at the tip of the dive and patches of purple soft corals and sea fans
below. Large schools of yellow striped snapper, barracuda and fusiliers.
Depth 30-120ft
21. "THE TOWER" A 60ft tower with
multicolored soft corals, hard corals and sea fans. Also turtles are occasionally
seen. Depth 30-90ft
