Location: On the island of Taveuni in the Northern region of Fiji

How to reach the property: From the Nadi Airport it is just over an hour flight to the airport on the island of Taveuni. Upon arriving you will be met by hotel staff for a short 5-minute ride to the resort.

Hotel Description: Tucked away on a gently sloping hill is the Maravu Plantation, a small, intimate resort in a spectacular setting nestled amongst 56 acres of coconut groves, beautiful lush jungle like gardens, and tropical rainforests. Across the road is a golden sand beach and the waters offer excellent snorkeling.

The main building houses the reception area, restaurant and lounge and sits above the swimming pool. It was built in the traditional style of the assembly houses of the archipelago and has open walls and tall thatched roofs to form steep gables. In addition to the architectural beauty, the Fijian art will capture you. Placed through out the building you will see carved bowls, masks, pottery, driftwood and painted tapa pictures.


Here, it is easy to lose yourself in nature's beauty. In addition, your taste buds will be treated to truly pure and fresh local foods from the sea and the organic gardens. If you lose track of time while you are relaxing and listening to the many sounds of nature surrounding you, not to worry, you will be reminded when meals are ready for you to enjoy by the gentle beat of the lali drum.

Rain forest trees and palms border the islands white sand beaches and because this is a volcanic island you will also find some black sand beaches. You will find that there are so many things to do. If you are a diver, you will be able to enjoy some of the worlds most breathtaking and beautiful underwater paradises within the Somosomo Strait. The resort offers afternoon and night dives all PADI courses and you are able to rent top quality dive equipment.

For a more romantic and secluded activity, have the staff arrange for a picnic on "Honeymoon Island".

Wherever you look you will find flowers arranged on every surface of the bures, the lounge, reception areas and the restaurant. Due to the fruit and flower gardens of Maravu, they are able to offer a fresh supply each day.

Accommodations: There are 10 bures tucked away beneath palm trees and each hidden amongst lush tropical gardens. No air-conditioning in any of the bures, but do not worry as you will feel the cool breeze from the ceiling fans. In addition, you will not find a television or a telephone in any of the bures and you probably will not miss them. The resort does offer its guests email, fax or telephone service at the resort's office if you require their use.

Each bure is beautifully decorated with Fijian artwork and paintings and oriented to face the sunset. Rooms have a sitting off the sleeping area. Bathrooms are spacious and very comfortable with tiled floors and are equipped with 110/220 outlets and hairdryers. All bures are serviced daily with a nightly turn down service. Each has the traditional high ceilings and are cooled by an overhead fan, tea/coffee maker, fridge, mini bar, writing desk, and radio/CD player. Units have their own private veranda furnished with wicker furniture, hammock and coffee table.


5 Deluxe Bures: Feature a King bed, sitting area with day bed, and large, tiled bathroom.

3 Honeymoon Bures: Feature a white canopied King bed. There is an outdoor shower in a secluded area next to the private sun deck and is fully enclosed by thick bamboo walls.

2 Family Duplex Bures: These units are joined by an interconnecting door. Each unit features a Queen bed and a single bed with spacious tiled bathroom. (You may rent only ½ of the "Duplex Family Bure" with the interconnecting door secured. This is then identified as a "Planters Bure").

Restaurant: One - Wananavu, an open-air restaurant specializing in International cuisine with a Fijian flavor. In the evenings, you can enjoy Fijian songs played by the Maravu Serenaders. Every week there is a Fijian meke and lovo feast. You will be able to enjoy watching traditional dances and taste some of the most delicious tasting food which is cooked Fijian style (underground ovens) and you won't want to miss partaking in some Kava, which is the traditional Fijian drink made from a pepper root plant. Moreover, seeing that the Maravu welcomes children they offer great meals for the children and can have their meals earlier then the adults. The resort is able to handle all diet requests and the resort has its own organic vegetable and herb gardens. Throughout the 56-acre plantation, there are banana trees, papaya, pineapple and many other exotic fruit growing.

Facilities: e-mail, fax and telephone service is available at the resort's office. Swimming Pool, PADI Dive Shop, Boutique, Library, full-time babysitting service available, organic vegetable and herb garden, a full service Beauty Therapy Salon and guest laundry service free of charge.
